About Mona Peck

Mona began her harp lessons at age nine at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her teacher was Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Harpist, Phyllis Schlomovitz. Mona became a Professional at age 14.

Mona made her solo orchestral debut with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra after winning a “Youth in Concert Series” competition. She was chosen from 57 participants as one of the 3 soloists. She performed the “Debussy Danses” concerto.

She attended the prestigious Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, studying with Eileen Malone as a Harp Performance Major.

Mona has since performed with various artists over the years, including Chuck Mangione, Rayburn Wright, The Manhattan Transfer, as well as performing with NY, Connecticut and New Jersey Orchestras and musicians.

Mona exclusively uses Celtic Lever Harps and Voice for her Clinical Work.

Before moving to the Big Island of Hawai’i, Mona worked clinically using Harp and Voice for various hospices, hospitals, palliative care hospitals and nursing homes in Westchester New York, New York City and Connecticut.

She completed all classroom and internship requirements in 1999 for her certificate as a Certified Music Practitioner® (CMP) from The Music for Healing and Transition Program. Mona joined their Faculty in 2000, teaching until 2011. She served as Board of Directors President for 8 years and was a Member of the Board for 10 years. She developed the Advisor Program and served as the Advisor Administrator from 2000-2011.

Mona completed all requirements for her Chalice of Repose Project (CORP) Certificate in Contemplative Musicianship Program in 2005 and completed all classroom and internship requirements in 2009 to receive her Certificate of completion as a Music-Thanatologist (M-Th) Mona joined CORP’s Faculty in 2010.

Mona has a CD, titled, “Mona~ Music for the Body, Mind and Spirit”. She has co-authored and published, “Shadow of the Living Light~ Songs of Saint Hildegard of Bingen” and “Five Simple Songs~ For Voice and Harp~ Arrangements for Use in Therapeutic Settings” with Melinda Gardiner, RN, CMP.
